In Your Fridge "Green Monster Smoothie"

22:33

Green smoothies are amazing. Period.
Sure when you first look at them and see just how green they are it can be a little off putting. You wonder exactly what is in that smoothie and just how horrible is must taste because it is just...so...green.
But believe it or not if you do it right a green smoothie can be delicious and not to mention it is very healthy for you. A green smoothie can contain all the nutrients, vitamins and fiber you need per day in just one glass!

Which makes it a perfect way to start your day...of course if you are like me and the idea of drinking something cold on a chilly morning is not intriguing you can always have it later in the day. It is recommended in the morning because it jump-starts your metabolism and energizes your body. Now how fantastic does that sound!

The following Green Monster Smoothie is a smoothie you can make with ingredients in your fridge, and by this I mean the smoothie does not include benefits like flax seed and spirilla or any other additional beneficial ingredients that can mostly be found in health food stores. Smoothies with those added benefits I will post later on but right now this post is focused on ingredients that you should be familiar with.

Green Monster Smoothie (rawr)

1 cup of spinach (or kale)
1/2 cup of lettuce
1 cut and peeled apple
1 cut and peeled kiwi
1/2 cut and peeled pear
1/2 of a frozen banana
1/2 cup of chill green tea
1 teaspoon of sugar to sweeten
1/3 cut and peeled cucumber

Blend all the ingredients in a blender until mixed and smooth. Then just enjoy!

Feel free to follow, comment or ask any questions!

  1. Any idea if replacing the spinach/kale with more lettuce would harm the taste? I do love lettuce, but I'm not a fan of either spinach or kale, particularly that much.

    1. You totally can but you are going to lessen the protein in your smoothie (spinach and kale are amazing sources of natural protein and minerals) as well you may make the drink taste like a liquid salad :P What I would recommend is just lessen the amount of spinach or kale you put into the smoothie and that should remove most if not all the taste of it. Put a half cup of spinach instead and make the rest lettuce :)
