Sun Burns & Wafers

Well hello lovelies, fancy seeing you here!

I thought I would shake things up a bit with this post and share with you how my last week has been because I figured perhaps I should share a bit more about myself with this blog. Hold onto your hats/socks/shirts/whatever items you may be wearing because this is going to be a mildly inconvenient bumpy ride on a flat road.

I will start off with the sunburn.

A nice lead in I think! Well the sunburn has more to do with going out berry picking then an actual burn though one does exist as it has taken over my upper back. Back to the berry picking though! I finally managed to get my backside over to a berry farm this summer (for the first but not last time) since I was a kid and man was it nostalgic..the minute I started picking those strawberries I felt like I was six years old again except I actually knew the difference between a good berry and a nasty berry now. I have got to say that it was a great afternoon spent with a good friend.

It was nice to not be spending time with a friend just drinking coffee or watching a actually do something that you could chat during and interact with nature was so calming and relaxing not to mention the reward at the end was well worth the sunburn of lobster proportions and two hours bending down over, and over, and over again.

Let me tell you hand picked local strawberries kicks the butt of berries you buy in store! And I am not just talking about the price.
The taste, color and size are amazingly different from the boxed berries you can buy in a grocery store and I definitely plan to take another trip there in two weeks because strangely...two flats of these berries are just not enough and raspberry season is just around the corner!

I would recommend it to anyone to take a couple of hours in your afternoon, apply sunscreen and go out to pick some berries. To some it sounds silly but really it was great to actual pick my own food rather then having to "given" to me in a store and being able to hand select what I want was a bonus.

After that day it was a work week as usual, kickboxing at my fitness gym on the Monday and after skipping past Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we have Friday also known as TGIF!

Friday was a day I was looking forward to for a while because I finally got to see my good friend again after two weeks apart (oh the humanity) because adulthood means little time for a social life. We took our little booties out of the Richmond Night Market which is a popular place to go in the summer time! There are so many food booths that the main reason most people go it just for the food but there are also live performances as well some nights and a section of the Market is just for buying a variety of different items.
Homeware, DVD's, cute socks, hilarious sunglasses and the list goes on and on.

I love the night market and always have, mostly because they carry one of my favorite treats,
Taiyaki! Which is a Japanese Pastry in the shape of a Thai fish and they come with different fillings like red bean, custard and others. I personally got the marshmallow nutella which was awesome.
Good bye healthly living for the night!
As well there was a interesting dessert..I do not remember the name of it but it is basically soft serve ice-cream in a embarrassing shaped wafer. Luckily though 75% of people there were eating it so awkwardness was non-existent. Needless to say it was a good night, I ate till I was disgustingly full and bought a nice inexpensive ring and pair of earring. Below are some photos of the night, since it is a Asian Nightmarket, cute and hello kitty were not in short supply!

Some lovely lit up trees

Saturday was a quiet day with a friend starting off with a impromptu breakfast smoothie! Personally I am not a fan of smoothies in the morning, cold drinks just do not tickle my fancy when I just wake up but when you have no food in the fridge you got to suck it up sometimes. Here is my random Breakfast Berry Smoothie.
  • Almond milk (1 1/2 cup)
  • Chia seeds (half a scoop)
  • Handful of strawberries
  • handful of frozen raspberries
  • Half a frozen banana
Blend and enjoy! It is gluten free, vegan and good for you!

The rest the day was just wandering the Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park, hanging out with raccoons, ducks and herons. As well as my friend, cannot forget her!

There you go a little insight into my week... stay tuned for Tralala Tuesday!
